The thing about closets is that they eff with even the neatest of humans. You start out super tidy, but a week later the whole thing looks like a tornado ripped through it.

May Kwok is a victim of said tornado. Her apartment is so neat, but as a DJ, she's out most nights and has to figure out outfits. Add to that the insane number of clothes she receives from designers every month, and her wardrobe gets out of control very fast. There's a lot coming in and not a lot going out. Here's what we at Roomers did to help.

May's closet was so stuffed, you couldn't even get another hanger in there. Not even a wire one. We helped May purge a ton of clothes (She filled three trash bags!) and moved a lot of things to her second closet to allow her easy access the things in her main one. Our favorite bit? Using every color tubular hanger The Container Store has. The rainbow effect turned out so cute we could have stared at it all day.

We started out by turfing everything from the shelves and going through "wants" and "don't wants" with May. She lives for a chunky knit and has a bazillion, so we filed those on the top shelf by color. Sweaters look so much better when folded with similar colors and patterns. Then we did the same with jeans, skirts, and her collection of leather pants.

Organizer, THE CONTAINER STORE, $30

May had a handy over-the-door rack (but we found a better one for her). The new one doubles as a kind of display for favorite bags.

Men's Shoe Drawer, THE CONTAINER STORE, $13 each

May loves shoes and has a million pairs. However, they were slightly disorganized. These clear shoe drawers are amazing to give an almost OCD level of tidiness to closets. May has a lot of heels and wedges, so we got the men's-size drawers to make sure her shoes could fit. The drawersare awesome because they stack super securely and the drawers glide really smoothly.

Feeling inspired? Tackle your own closet and you'll breathe a sigh of relief, just like May did.
