1. Line the outer rim of your eyes with a brown pencil. And then smudge it out with a smudger brush to give it a diffused effect. If you line your eyes first with liner, it opens them up so that the crease is easier to define; versus going in and applying the shadow first, since it can make them appear smaller that way. ModelChantal Jones used Rimmel London Special Eyes Eyeliner in Rich Brown.

2. Apply brown shadow to the crease of your eye. Be sure to apply the eyeshadow to the crease of your eye using a fluffy brush, and then blend it outward for a smoky finish. Chantal used Rimmel London Glam Eye Shadow Quad in Smokey Brun.

3. Intensify your brow. The focus here is the arch, which you're going to want to give a rounded shape to, versus an angular one, at your brow's highest point. "Use any brow powder that matches your natural brow color and an angled brush, and make sure to use curved strokes to make the arch rounded," she says. Chantal used Rimmel London Glam Eyes Mono Eyeshadow in Spicy Bronze here.

4. Line the waterline of your lower lid. Using a waterproof nude eye liner, trace the lower inner rim of your eye to instantly make the whites of your eyes pop. Try Rimmel London Scandaleyes Waterproof Kajal Kohl Liner in Nude.

5. Coat your lashes with mascara. Do this on your upper and lower lash lines to really open up your eyes. Chantal used Rimmel London ScandalEyes Retro Glam Mascara.

6. Top your lips with a nudish pink lip color. For a mod finish, Chantal used Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick by Kate Moss in #113.

Carly Cardellino was the beauty director at Cosmopolitan. If you follow her Instagram, then you know she'll try just about any beauty trend or treatment once (the pics of her purple hair are on IG to prove it). But her favorite part about being in beauty is finding the most effective products, and then sharing that intel with others—because who wants to spend money on stuff that doesn't work? No one, that's who. Her most recent discovery: De La Cruz Sulfur Ointment, which will change your blemish-clearing game! Hopefully through the beauty stories she writes—and the experiences she shares—you can see exactly why she's in this business.
