The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge happily posed for pictures with members of the public as they arrived at the Sydney Opera House during the second leg of their Antipodean tour Wednesday, April 16.

Fans and well-wishers gathered outside the iconic building, with a few even managing to take photos with the young royal couple.

A 19-year-old starstruck student named Chloe Skafte took a selfie with Catherine, who was looking colorful in a bright yellow Roksanda Ilincic dress, after presenting her with a bunch of proteas.

Chloe later told reporters: "She [the Duchess] told me, 'I love your yellow blouse.' I said, 'Thank you so much for coming to Sydney. I'm so glad you're here.'

"I can't believe I met her. Oh my god, Kate Middleton!"

Nina Kiwarkis snapped a photo with Prince William and Catherine separately after speaking to them about St Vincent's Heart and Lung Unit.

She said, "It wasn't a surprise they stopped, but it was a lovely experience.

"They heard me shouting to them to keep St Vincent's Heart and Lung Unit in their prayers. Prince William wanted to know about the unit here in Sydney and the work it did, so I explained it to him.

"I told both him and Kate how I myself am waiting for a heart and lung transplant.

"They seemed very interested and were a lovely couple. It was a very special day."

Nina's friend Marian Khamis also got a photo of herself with Catherine, who looked somewhat unprepared for the picture.

The Duchess also appeared high-fiving a fan in a picture taken during an official visit to Christchurch on Monday, April 14, before going on to display her impressive batting skills in a cricket match against William in the New Zealand city.

The Duke and Duchess and 8-month-old Prince George also visited Admiralty House on Wednesday, where the young Prince was presented with a giant wombat cuddly toy by Australian Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove.

So far on their three-week tour, the pair have been warmly greeted by Maori warriors in Wellington and filmed by Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson during a visit to his WWI exhibition in Blenheim.
