Teenagers are now using social media to share videos in which they light themselves on fire. There is no good explanation for why they're doing this aside from — Terrible reason coming right up, folks! — other kids are also doing it, The Daily Dot reports.

The so-called "Fire Challenge," which recently gained a surprising amount of momentum, can be broken down into more specific acts of self-immolation, like the chest hair challenge in which men light their chests on fire to burn the hair off. Or, the leg-shaving challenge, where people burn their leg hair.

Thankfully, no one has died yet, which has not been the case in other viral "games" that have popped up on the Internet lately. When the Neknominate games emerged earlier this year, five people drank themselves to death for the sake of outdoing each other on Facebook. The opposite and self-explanatory Cold Water Challenge is the cause of one death so far. However, people are seriously injuring themselves doing these challenges, as one does when voluntarily lighting himself on fire.

The teen below sustained burn injuries that one fireman told WKYT TV "he will feel for the rest of his life." WARNING: The video is graphic:

And then, there's a whole lot of this nonsense, which resulted in no reported injuries:
