What made you want to write this book and add new parts?

With the Internet, Facebook and all the media outlets, it makes it a lot easier to communicate with Selena's fans. They've been submitting so many questions so I just decided to write the book, get everything out of the way and show a different side of Selena that a lot of people didn't know about. I was very hesitant and cautious because I didn't want people to get the wrong idea. I just wanted to show them another side to her personality. I didn't want to set out a tell-all book, but I never talked about our relationship, how we got together. There were books written, some were decent but never 100 percent accurate. I also wanted to address some of the rumors flying around. People can be cruel and really tacky.

When the hardcover came out. I thought I was done then they called me a few months back about a new paperback edition. I found a letter that I couldn't find when I was writing it originally. I wanted to put it in there because it's on a little notepad in her writing. When I read it, it's like hearing her talk. It also has new pictures.

What was the hardest part about it?

I was a little apprehensive am I doing the right thing? My team, friends, family —everyone was really supportive of the idea. Surprisingly it was easier than I thought, I never put myself in the position to reel in all these memories. It just came to me again. Being that the book had a lot of happy moments, I was literally sitting there writing and cracking up at some of the things she said and did and the memories with her family on the bus. It did had painful moments that were hard to relive — the Yolanda stuff — but at the same time it wasn't hard remembering it, it was hard reliving it. I've been carrying it around for so long so I was glad to be able to put in the book. I got a great response from her friends, family and fans — I was presently surprised.

Do you get any negative feedback from her family?

No, not all. I'm not going to lie and say I wasn't nervous with the idea. Even though I pissed them off in the past because I was being young and making dumb mistakes, I learned from it. I didn't tell them right away when I started drafting, but I hadn't done any publishing deals until I told them.

Which is personally your favorite song of Selena's and which was your favorite to perform with her?

I liked all of them but for some reason I always liked playing the songs that weren't as popular, like "Las Cadenas" from the album Amor Prohibido. If I had to pick a favorite CD it was that one.

What are some of the most moving things her fans have told you?

They've been really respectful. They always bring her up in a positive light. They don't try to dig too deep.

What are the next steps for your career? Can you tell us about some of your projects?

My band just signed a co-partnership with Emilio Estefan. We recorded a few songs. We will be recording records next year.
