These aren't paintings. They're models Kerri Lane photographed against a background, using body paint to make the whole thing look like a piece of art. Clients (only women) volunteer via Lane's website to be featured in her striking photos.
Lane was first inspired to experiment with a blend of paint and photography when she was looking for art for her new home. "I wanted something sensual and sexy, and slightly erotic but not dirty," she says. "That's a fine line to find that. I really just couldn't find one I liked ... they would either be the wrong color or it would just be too provocative. So I called my girlfriend and was like, 'Hey! Can I paint your butt?' and she was like, 'Certainly!'"
Lane paints a backdrop before the client arrives, then "we go through the process: what colors do you want? Where are you going to hang it in your home? I am truly trying to manage an art piece," she says.
"It takes them a few minutes of jokes or telling something funny that has happened during my piece shows and it just lightens the mood and it goes great from there," Lane explains. "And then they all say how empowering it is, how they felt sexy. It is only a positive experience."
