In the world of Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte, not every relationship was built to last. In fact, most barely lasted the night. But every experience brought with it an important life lesson, a deeper understanding of the perils of romantic entwinement and … ah, who are we kidding — all we really wanted was a dishy brunch session the day after and fodder for Carrie's next "I couldn't help but wonder…" musings. After all, she couldn't be a sex columnist without having, and hearing, about lots of lots of swings and misses.

But 17 years (eek) after the first season, where are the nameless guys — and one girl — that we kinda, sorta remember now? Let's find out:

1. Jake, from "They Shoot Single People, Don't They?"

Then: After an embarrassing magazine cover labeling her "Single and Fabulous Question Mark," Carrie decides to take her Single and Fabulous (Exclamation Mark) self out to a hot party, where she meets another single and fabulous hottie. They jump into his Porsche for what looks to be a sure thing, until he spots her magazine cover at a newspaper stands and she's confronted with her own insecurities. Also, he's kind of a jerk and doesn't let her out of the car (luckily it's a convertible).
Now: Bradley Cooper has three consecutive Best Actor Oscar nominations under his belt, he dates models, and he's still hot. BRADLEY COOPER, Y'ALL!!!

2. Greg, from "Twenty-Something Girls vs. Thirty-Something Women"

Then: When Charlotte decides to relive her 20s during a weekend in the Hamptons, Long Island ice tea hangovers are the least of her problems. Instead, she ends up with a mortifying case of crabs and it's hard to even watch that episode without feeling itchy.
Now: You'd hardly recognize a very grown-up Anson Mount as the star of Civil War-era drama Hell on Wheels. Yes, Britney's Crossroads boyfriend has a mad beard now.

3. Vaughn, from "Shortcomings"

Then: One of the most memorable of Carrie's quick relationships had to be the guy who couldn't, well, control his desires. You know what we're talking about.
Now: Justin Theroux is a successful screenwriter, actor, and fiancé to one Jennifer Aniston. (And judging by his jogging-in-sweatpants scene on The Leftovers, Justin's penis is still a hot topic of conversation.)

4. Episode: Jack, from "La Douleur Exquise!"

Then: After a bookstore meet-cute, Miranda begins dating Jack, a dude who only likes to do it in places he can get caught. ~eXHiBiTIonIsM~ and all that shit, you know? Finally his wish comes true – hi, mom! Can you say buzzkill?
Now: The gravelly voice perv is none other than Will Arnett, one of the most prolific comedic actors around. You may now him from … everywhere (30 Rock, Arrested Development) but few know that Arnett began his career as a dramatic actor and once played an FBI agent on The Sopranos.

5. Louis, from "Anchors Away"

Then: After being dragged to a Fleet Week party, Carrie meets a very good-looking and sweet sailor, Louis Leroy. They look like they are on a one-way street to Makeoutville until Louis expresses his dislike for one of Carrie's greatest loves, New York City. He was at least right about the subway.
Now: Daniel Sunjata starred as a firefighter on long-running drama Rescue Me, and has appeared on Smash, Grey's Anatomy, and in movies including The Dark Knight Rises and The Devil Wears Prada (he's the designer who gets Miranda's pursed-lip face when showing her his latest collection, uh-oh, uh-oh). Contrary to his stint on SATC, he hearts NYC.

6. Sam, from "Valley of the Twenty-Something Guys"

Then: On an "off" weekend with Mr. Big, Carrie bops around town with a very young, very cute, and very pierced dude. The sex may be good, but his disastrous apartment (and lack of toilet paper) is the stuff morning-after nightmares are made of. What if you can't even find your purse?!
Now: Timothy Olyphant only lasted a moment in Carrie's world, but has gone on to play roles on The Office and The Mindy Project — on which Kaling often, correctly, refers to him as a major hottie — and stars in the modern day Western drama Justified.

7. Yankee Joe, from "Take Me Out to the Ball Game"

Then: With Carrie reeling from a breakup with Big, Miranda treats the girls to a day at the ballpark. Carrie catches a fly ball, and she also scores a date with the New Yankee, a hot baseball pro. After bumping into Mr. Big while on a date, however, Carrie cries and leaves Yankee Joe on the street (probably feeling very confused). We never saw the New Yankee again – maybe he was traded?
Now: Kansas native Mark Devine continues to pop up here and there on television and in theater, and you may also recognize him from another familiar role — he played the Maytag Man's apprentice in the early-2000s. He also works as a photographer.

8. Bill, from "Politically Erect"

Then: When Carrie decides to take a ride on the Silver Fox merry-go-round, she does so with a handsome political candidate who wants to give her more than she can handle (mainly, a golden shower). After she suggests they swap urine for some warm tea, he dumps her and she discreetly outs his fetish in her column.
Now: John Slattery is still a silver fox, but these days he stars as the smarmy Roger Sterling on Mad Men — as well as in forthcoming Marvel movie Ant Man and Netflix's Wet Hot American Summer.

9. Skipper, from "The Fuck Buddy"

Then: Seriously, WTF happened to sweet ol' Skipper? Miranda's on-again, off-again punching bag disappeared after season two. We always liked the idea that Miranda was his Mr. Big though — perhaps Skip finally wised up, met a nice girl, and moved to the suburbs (although there was that one time he broke up with someone mid-coitus just because Miranda called, so, yeah).
Now: Actor Ben Weber has dropped the glasses — but kept the curly locks — and age has definitely agreed with him. He has continued to work steadily on shows like Everwood and The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

10. Sam, from "What Goes Around Comes Around"

Then: Remember home phone lines? After being inundated with messages to RSVP for a party being thrown by another Sam Jones, Samantha tracks down her namesake and discovers that Sam is a hopeless college virgin. She immediately rectifies that situation, which ends up backfiring when Sam grows much too attached to Ms. Jones.
Now: Jacob Pitts played sex-obsessed Cooper Harris in the cult comedy classic Euro Trip, and these days he regularly works with another SATC alum, Timothy Olyphant (see no. 6); they play colleagues on Justified.

11. Robert, from "A Women's Right to Shoes" and more.

Then: Sports doctor Robert Leeds was Miranda's (handsome) neighbor who, after some elevator flirting, became her (handsome) serious BF. Did we mention how handsome he is? (Handsome) Dr. Leeds could do no wrong, from his giant "I Love You" cookie declaration to tending to Miranda when she caught chicken pox from Brady. Oh and he was handsome AF.
Now: Blair Underwood continues to be a successful actor on stage and screen, including a stint as Stanley in a Broadway production of A Streetcar Named Desire. Still handsome, obvs.

12. Joe, from "Cover Girl"

Then: There's no way to sugarcoat it: This was the package delivery guy Samantha was blowing when Carrie walked in on her, and then they had a big fight over Carrie being judgmental (which she totally was!) at Carrie's book cover photo shoot. Samantha chalked up the misadventure to her hurt feelings about Richard, but she may have been onto something — there's nothing worse than that little "missed courier" sticker, right?
Now: Nick Scotti was a popular male model when he met Madonna at a party thrown by photographer Herb Ritts. She took a liking to him and catapulted him to It Boy status; alongside his SATC role, he went on to cut a dance single and star in the film Kiss Me Guido. But nothing lasts forever (certainly not Madonna's boy toys) — he last worked in show business in 2006 and is now an artist whose work has, according to Scotti's website, has been compared to Cy Twombly's.

(Bonus: Here's a photo he kindly agreed to take with a fan back in 2011.)

13. Tom, also from "Cover Girl"

Then: At first Miranda is relieved to find a kindred spirit at a Weight Watchers meeting, but after getting into bed with him, she's mortified to discover he's a messy eater (and we don't mean Krispy Kreme donuts). After sheepishly offering him a tissue, we knew that this calorie-counting match was not going to last another episode.
Now: Craig Gass is a popular stand-up comedian who tours, appears at roasts, and does voice work for Family Guy and American Dad!. He also does a killer Alec Baldwin impression, and he's very cool about being known as "the messy eater."

14. Sean, from "Boy, Girl, Boy, Girl"

Then: Bi, straight, gay — these increasingly outdated labels had Carrie playing a sexual orientation guessing game after one fling talked about his relationship history with both genders. After a spin-the-bottle smooch with guest star Alanis, Carrie decides that anything-goes sexuality is not in her wheelhouse (but over-the-thigh gold boots definitely were).
Now: Eddie Cahill's guest stint proved to be a jumping off point for steady TV work; he was a regular on CSI: NY and Under the Dome. And who can forget his turn as Rachel's assistant/boyfriend on Friends?! (Also, who can forget those sparkling blue eyes?)

15. Howie, from "The Catch"

Then: Still a little sad from the Post-it note read 'round the world (whatevs, Berger, you're not even on this list!), Carrie has a one-night stand with Harry's best friend, in town for the York-Goldenblatt nuptials. The sex is disastrous (and slightly painful) and, after Carrie rebuffs his offer of another round of pow-pow-pow'ing, the best man makes the worst wedding speech ever, calling Carrie "a bitch" in front of errebody. Urgh, the awks.
Now: Bryan Callen is one of those "Where do I know that guy from?" comedians who seems to be in everything. He's appeared in Old School, The Hangover films, and The Expendables, and on TV in The Goldbergs and Californication.

16. Adam, from "Easy Come, Easy Go"

Then: Does "funky spunk" ring a bell? When Samantha stops going down on her sex partner, she has to gently explain to him that it's because his bodily fluid is high on the "retch" meter. Yikes.
Now: Actor Bobby Cannavale is dating one of our favorite actresses, Rose Byrne (they currently star in Adult Beginners together) and has had guest roles on Will & Grace and Nurse Jackie. He's also worked in films like Annie, Chef, and Blue Jasmine, and is a Broadway mainstay.

17. Chip, from "To Market, To Market"

Then: After giving her hotshot stockbroker neighbor Chip Kil-Kenney a very warm welcome basket (her vagina), Samantha reaps the benefits of his financial expertise with postcoital insider trading tips. After the police bust them in flagrante (translation: going at it hard), it's the end of Samantha's Wall Street winning streak.
Now: Canadian actor Victor Webster has appeared on Days of Our Lives, Charmed, Melrose Place, Criminal Minds, Castle, Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce and Moms. Weirdly, he actually was a stockbroker before he became an actor (though, we're assuming, not the shady kind.)

18. Derek, from "Models and Mortals"

this image is not availablepinterest

Then: Beautiful underwear model Derek is the object of Stanford's affection, but he turns out to be more into Carrie. She takes him home and they spend all night talking about what it means to be beautiful in a city filled with beautiful people. He's sensitive (if simple) and dreams of being a small-town sheriff. This episode coined the term "modelizer" — a serial dater of models (see: Leonardo DiCaprio).
Now: Andrea Boccaletti has a few IMDb credits to his name but spends his time these days running "One Love Unified," a T-shirt brand. Via the company's website, Boccaletti "was inspired to take action as an activist against the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. With countries from all over the world uniting to keep the peace, he wanted to create a fashion piece that represented not just peace but love for humanity and community." He is also a prolific user of Instagram hashtags.

19. Chivon, from "No Ifs, Ands or Butts"

Then: Samantha starts dating sexy record exec Chivon Williams, but almost immediately clashes with his strong-willed sister, who disapproves of the mixed-race relationship.
Now: He hasn't acted in over a decade but he's definitely a New York success story. A popular and prolific Brooklynite, Asio Highsmith owns WTF Coffee Lab (for which he brews what Maxim describes as "America's best coffee"), has dabbled in a sneaker shop and bars, and still models in the occasional ad campaign.

Also/always worth noting, Highsmith played one of the male models in Zoolander:

20. Smith, from too many episodes to name.

Then: When Samantha first laid eyes on the struggling actor/raw food waiter, it was love lust at first site. But Smith proved to be in it for the long haul, and Samantha used her PR prowess to turn him from out-of-work Jerry Jarod to the in-demand Smith. Sure he was insanely good-looking in a mythological way, but more importantly, he was good to Samantha, waiting out her infidelity slip-up with arrogant ex Richard and supporting her through chemo.
Now: This is the role that propelled Jason Lewis to fame, and though he has worked steadily, he hasn't ever quite replicated the insane popularity of his SATC days.

21. Maria, from "Ghost Town"

Then: Samantha doesn't do relationships, OK? At least not until a bold and beautiful Brazilian woman temporarily changes her mind. But then monogamy — with men or women — was never Samantha's game, so when temptation comes knocking (in the form of a middle-of-the night booty call), fireworks explode, dishes are lost, and a heart is broken.
Now: Sônia Maria Campos Braga is an Emmy-Award winning actress and the first Brazilian to ever present at the Academy Awards. Best known for her role in Kiss of the Spiderwoman, she continues to act across television, theater and film, and telenovelas.

In conclusion, beautiful people do not age.
